Bevan MAdden

Having lived in Bendigo most of his life, Bevan understands this city, the region, and its history.

He also understands that Bendigo must remain flexible if it is to remain a vibrant, prosperous place for all.

As a teacher, Bevan holds high hopes for the youth of Bendigo and wants to ensure Bendigo can be a place that allows all children to grow into their preferred future.

Priorities - for a greater Bendigo

  • There is a reason councils are often boiled down to the Three 'Rs': Roads, Rates, and Rubbish. That's because they're important! Let's get them right first:

    • Councillor Accountability in Whipstick Ward.

    • Improvement in the services that matter to you.

  • Many Bendigo Residents are doing it tough. Council should be helping, not hindering, these people.

    • Advocate for Bendigo at State and Federal Government.

    • Liaise with stakeholders in Bendigo to ensure help is directed to those most in need.

    • Promote education for ratepayers on ways Council can help if they are experiencing financial hardships.

  • Bendigo is expected to welcome nearly 50,000 new residents over the next twenty years and some forward thinking is needed to ensure this is a smooth process:

    • Pre-emptive service improvements in growth areas, such as Jackass Flat, Strathfieldsaye, and Goornong, led by the current residents of these areas.

    • Provide support for local businesses to stay local.

  • As a teacher, Bevan is helping shape Bendigo's next generation and he has some ideas about how to ensure they reach their full potential:

    • Revitalise the City Centre and make it a safe, welcoming place for all.

    • Expand the number of events, including free and affordable events, aimed at young people.

    • Utilise the Youth Council voice to help guide council decisions.

  • Bendigo is the place to be in Regional Victoria. Let's keep it that way:

    • Guide the completion of the Art Gallery Redevelopment Project

    • Advocate for more tours of major artistic works, like the 2023 Ring Cycle, ensuring these events are accessible to the Bendigo Public.

    • Continue advocating for Bendigo in many contexts, such as gastronomy, visual and performing arts.
